Merchant

'Merchant' is the work-in-progress title of a new novel I'm working on. It is almost certainly not the final title. The story is set primarily in one of the minor 'Cities of the Coast', in the world of The Rite of Spring; it concerns the impact of disruptive technological change on a culture, and (as seems to be usual for me) the power relationships between men and women.

Introduction for test readers

This is a very early draft text; it was started on 1st December 2013. I’m writing very fast and much of what I’m writing will need fleshing out. Ignore spelling and gramatical mistakes, except inconsistencies in the spelling of names.

Please let me know

Whether you feel engaged in the overall story, and the characters;
Of things you find psychologically implausible;
If you feel some character has an inconsistent voice;
Of continuity issues.

Early 'alpha release' copies of the text were available only as HTML; from this point on, alpha release copies will be available as both HTML and as MOBI, a format suitable for Kindle and other 'eBook' readers.
