IT Manager, Wigtown District Council
November 1992 - August 1993
In November of 1992 I was appointed IT Manager for Wigtown
District Council, reporting to the Director of Finance and
responsible for three staff. During the short period I was with
the Council, I feel that I served it well, greatly improving
the robustness of its UNIX V.4 based network, and successfully
introducing significant new applications including payroll.
However, I have found myself unable to reach agreement with
senior management with regard to the appropriate level of
resource for the IT Unit, and in August 1993 took up a job
offered by Care in Action NSF
(Scotland).
